Brentwood Karting welcomed the arrival of Channel 5 and the young karting sensation that is Leonardo Panayiotou. With the circuit occupied by cameras, photographers and racing driver/trainer Luke Hines, Leonardo found himself once again in the spotlight. This time the filming was for a short 3 minute slot on Channel 5 news as a follow up to Leonardo's first feature which was shown after he received an incredible £15000 sponsorship towards his karting future. At only 5 years old Leonardo shows a great natural driving talent and skill compared to drivers more than twice his age, completing the Brentwood circuit in under 38 seconds in his specially adapted Zip Bambino Kart, even beating his dad Jason who himself is a regular karter. Leonardo has been driving at the Brentwood circuit under professional instruction for over 4 months now and has continued to show great improvements since coming to Brentwood from Rye House Race Circuit. Leonardo continues to practice at least once a week on the Brentwood Circuit, honing his skills and being taught by his professional coach Luke Hines and dedicated father Jason. Leonardo will continue this until he turns 8 and can race competitively. Manager Chris Waterhouse said "It's an honour that Leonardo loves the circuit and the staff so much here at Brentwood, he is an exceptional talent who shows great focus and determination to improve, sometimes you forget he is only 5 years old. Leonardo is a great kid and it's a pleasure having him and his family here on a regular basis" View more pictures of the event. |
